Changing the Logo Url
  • I was wondering how I could go about changing the url of the logo?  Instead of it going back to the homepage I would like it to go to an internal page on the site.

  • Yes, this is possible! I've done it on their other themes but Cake appears to be a little different.

    Find the file header-top-area.php - it's in /wp-content/themes/cake/includes

    For some reason I couldn't edit this file within the editor in wordpress, I had to download it, make the change and then upload it.

    Before you do any editing like this always make a backup copy of the file. I also make a backup of my entire website (my host, wpengine, has this automatic feature.)

    Look for // logo - print - it's at line 22 in my file.

    The first line after this is:

    echo '<a id="logo" href="'. get_home_url() .'" title="'. get_bloginfo( 'name' ) .'">';

    you want to put your url in it like this:

    echo '<a id="logo" href="http://www.mywordpresswebsite/pageiwanttolink/" title="'. get_bloginfo( 'name' ) .'">';

    be very careful entering the url, it's tricky!
