Child theme, how can I keep track of where changes are safed
  • I'm working on a child theme of Doover. I noticed that although I make design-changes in the Child theme, it is difficult to keep track of changes: a lot of changes are made in the parent-theme and not only the child theme. This can cause future problems when updating the parent theme: I'm only the designer of the child theme, my customer will fill it with content and take care of maintenance, so I'm afraid some changes will be lost when he updates in the future.

Can you please advice, although I love working with your theme, maybe its not the right choice for this project.

  • Thank you for your answer. I already tested the child theme updating the parent-theme Doover. A lot of changes I made working on the child-theme where overwritten when updating Doover, that is because my css-modifications also where made in the parent theme (probably because I made a mistake somehow). I would like to know how I can assure that my changes are only made in the child's style.css. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
