Hi, how do I change just the main menu background colour? also how do I make the buttons (on hi-light) square instead of rounded?

You can change the roundness with this css

.menu-highlight:not(.header-creative) #Top_bar .menu > li > a {
	border-radius:0px !important;
}

The colors can be changed in theme options>colors
You can set how the blog is shown in theme options>blog,portfolio&shop
For the other question I have no answers since i do not understand what do you mean.

I have tried to change the menu - do you see - where the buttons are, they are blue background with a white highlight? I want them white background so there is a full white bar running behind it - like the white left and right side? like image below:

1. Ok, so to make whole bar white background, use:

#Top_bar #menu { background: transparent !important; }
#Top_bar .menu > li > a { color: #000; }
#Top_bar .container .column.one { width: 100% !important; margin: 0 !important; }
#Top_bar .container { max-width: 1240 !important; }

2. You can only disable subheader and you can do this under BeTheme Options > Header & Subheader > Subheader section but you can not change it's content.

This is the css to change the colors

.helper {
    background: red !important;
}
.helper .helper_header .links a.link {
    color: red !important;
    background: blue !important;
}
.helper .helper_header .links a.link:hover {
    color: red !important;
    background: blue !important;
}

The button height will not be full height since the container has padding.
