Problems with child theme

Hi, I want to activate the thema son of Betheme and use the content-post.php and content-singel.php files that I have already modified. But always use those of the topic father.
Copy the modified files by creating the same folder as the parent and copy the modified files.
After testing, he continues to use the files of the parent theme.
Can you please help me.

  • Hi,
    Please open your fucntions.php file in the child theme and scroll the to bottom, you will find a commented out section. You have to include the files you want to swap.
    /* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    * Override theme functions

    * if you want to override theme functions use the example below
    * --------------------------------------------------------------------------- */
    // require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() .'/includes/content-portfolio.php' );
  • Hi, I activated in child's function.php the commented option and I put the file content-single.php, duplicate the file of the subject parent content-single.php and save it in the folder includes of the child theme. I made some small change in this file and when I try to access the page, the browser shows me a "can not show the web" error.
    Can you tell me I'm doing wrong ??
  • Please make a screen of the functions.php child theme file, the bottom where you require files.

    The php files I have duplicates in the parent and in the child
  • It looks fine, it seems that you have messed up the file by making those changes you mentioned. Please re-upload this file.
  • Hi,
    I have the exact two duplicate files with no differences, when I activate the code in the child's fuctions.php crashes the web. But if I remove the code it works perfectly.
    The folder wp-content I have inside another folder for security reasons, not as the original installation of Wordpress.
    I attach the content-singles.php files to them to see that they are the same.
  • If you remove the code and everything is fine then there must be something worng with the code. We do not support custom code changes to unfortunately we will be not able to help with this.
    thanks
  • Hi,
    I reinstalled the parent theme and the child, then duplicate the content-single.php file and moved it to the includes folder in the theme child. I also put the wp-content folder back into the root of the domain. And the theme is updated to the latest version.
    Now there is no modification on my part and the Child does not work by activating the code you propose and asking you to consider the content-single.php file.

    Can you tell me what happens to my topic ?? I need the child to function properly.
  • Do I have to delete the parent theme file?
    I have to delete a line of code from the file before using it on the child ??
    I do not understand what happens.
  • Send us WordPress dashboard and FTP access privately thru the contact form which is on the right side at [Links visible only for registered users] and we will check what might be the reason. Please don’t forget to explain your issue in the messeage very clearly.

  • Hi, sorry for the delay. I send them a link so that they can download the folder of my wordpress, is newly installed, do not make any modification or customization in the files. Activate the child function.php line and stop the web.
    They could review it and tell me that it is failing.
    I would like to enjoy my Theme 100%
    a greeting

  • We do not need your theme files. Please send the information thru the contact form and continue the conversation there.
    thanks
