How can I add a blog item with a grid style with a single column?

I just want a single column blog with the excerpt under the picture. what short code should i use?

So you could in theory try to insert a blog item,

http://themes.muffingroup.com/be/theme/shortcodes/loops/#blog-item

Then edit it and in the option set the number of rows to 1 and the number of total posts to 1.

Try it.

i'm trying to accomplish something like their blog feed [ http://rapradar.com/ ] is this possible with Betheme, it seems like Photo (horizontal image) will allow me to make a single column but i cant create a background around the post and Grid is perfect but i can't get one column... How do i fix this?

Sorry but this is not possible. You can only set the blog style in theme options>blog,portfolio&shop>blog to classic.
