Subcategories at my portfolio

Good morning support team, 

I have a project with an architecture company, they want to show about 6 categories of projects but inside each categories they want 3 subccategories, i want to know if it is posible, maybe with another example i can make me explain:

imagine a sport clothing store, and i will have shoes, shirts, running and each one for men a women, so i want to show my principal categories ALL MEN and WOMEN, then i want to show subcategories  MEN>SHOES or WOMEN SHOES, always with the Jquery enabled.
