How can I change the folder name of the theme ?

for "betheme" to "newtheme"

wp-content/themes/betheme/images/favicon.ico

Hello,
if you want to change the theme folder name then you have to do it on your PC first and then upload it as the theme to your wordpress. If you change the name on a live theme it will break the website and the theme will not work.

to use child theme with another folder name what I need to do ?

What do you mean exactly, does the childtheme hava a different folder name or the parent theme?

I change the folder name to Xxx for the betheme master template and then I try to upload the betheme-child.zip file and I received this :

This theme requires a parent theme. Checking if it is installed…

The parent theme could not be found. You will need to install the parent theme, betheme, before you can use this child theme.

Theme installed successfully.

Please to your child theme style.css file, edit it and change the parent theme name.

I do like you say but today when I update the theme I received an error.

child theme it was live and after update I can't have acces to the theme options

the betheme now is on betheme folder

So how can I do it to have the link linke : http://www.xxxx.com/wp-content/themes/NEWFOLDER/css/

Like I said before, you need to only update the parent theme and in the child theme edit the css to enter the folder name of the parent theme.

3. upload main theme

4. upload child theme

Okay I managed to fix what you have done. The theme is now working and updating.

Please check the name of the folder.

After update the name of folder is betheme not the setup name.

Yes, the theme folder name will be changed on update when it comes to the parent theme, there is nothing that can be done about this. You would have to not update the theme.
