Dear Support,

Please see here the 1 comments: [Links visible only for registered users]

The comment sign is not translated.

I have translated all strings in theme options.
The language of the site is set to Hungarian.

I have tried to use loco translate, but it is not able to create a language file.

Please help.

Best regards,
Andras

  • Hi,

Go to WPML > String Translation > Search for the strings in
the comment section > Translate the strings > Save the changes.

For more information on how to use String Translations visit this link: [Links visible only for registered users]

    Thanks
  • Dear Support,

We don't have WPML - why should we use that? It is only a 1 language site....

This is not a solution for us. How do we translate?

    Andras
  • There is no option for translating 'comment' in BeTheme.
You have to change a language of page in wordpress settings, it'll change automaticly.
If this won't work, you have to edit wordpress files.
    Thanks.
  • Dear Support,

The language is the site is Hungarian, while this string obviously is English. This is a theme related issue. If I turn off the theme, the string is translated.

I can see different languages packs in the theme, but there is no Hungarian. I have tried to add a new language in loco translate, which is not working. This is a theme issue again.

Please provide Hungarian language packs and translatable strings. You don't have to translate, just make it possible to add a new language to the theme.

The error is caused by the theme

    Thanks.

    Andras
  • Hi,
    1) 'Comment' is part of wordpress, not BeTheme.
If you have wordpress installed with Hungarian language on, then 'comment' will change automaticly to your language. It's not caused by theme.

    2) Loco translate -
Sorry, but we did not test this script/plugin with the theme. Our policy
states that we do not support third party plugins or custom code.
Also, we cannot recommend any plugins other than the ones we support.
You can find the list on this page, in the sidebar:

    3) If you want to see Hungarian language in BeTheme, please post your suggestion here: https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/113/your-suggestions-for-future-updates#latest
We really appriciate every tip which will upgrade our theme!

    Thanks
  • Dear Pablo,

What you have written is simply not true.

If I change the theme to the default Twenty Sixteen, the comment is translated ASAP.

Here is how it looks with Twenty Sixteen:

Here is how it looks with Betheme:

And besides that you have a Muffin Widget (latest comments), which looks like this:

So "comment" is a part of your theme, at least your theme defines how it appears.

It is not translatable, which is an error. As I have stated before, the language of the site is Hungarian.

Please provide a way to translate these strings.

    thanks.
  • Hi,
We'll discuss it with our developer team.
But now, I will tell you another way of changing this string.

Please, go to your BeTheme folder and copy all of the content of comments.php file to the child theme.
There you can translate this 'comment' or 'comments' section.

Sorry about the false information, but it should work this way and this is our oversight.
    Greetings.
  • Dear Pablo,

Thank you very much for the help.

I have transleted the comments.php file. I had to convert it to UTF-8 to get it work, but it is working now.

However, there are some additional strings in the Muffin Recent Comments Widget. Those are still in English.

Would you please also tell me how to translate the "commented on" string in the Muffin Recent Comments Widget via a child theme?

    Best regards,
    Andras

  • Hi,
This file can be found in functions folder of BeTheme.
    widget-recent-comments.php file.

    All about Child Theme here:

It's basic copy and paste with function to get the child file.
    Thanks
  • Dear Pablo,

I have tried to translate that file, but it is not working for me.

We are talking about this code:

    $output .= '<p><i class="icon-user"></i> <strong>'.strip_tags($comment->comment_author) .'</strong> '. __('commented on','mfn-opts') .' <a href="'. $url .'">'. get_the_title($comment->comment_post_ID) .'</a></p>';

    $output .= '<p><i class="icon-user"></i> <strong>'.strip_tags($comment->comment_author) .'</strong> '. __('hozzászólt','mfn-opts') .' <a href="'. $url .'">'. get_the_title($comment->comment_post_ID) .'</a></p>';

For some reason the theme is not picking up this translation.

Can this string be anywhere else?

    Best regards,
    Andras
  • Changing the string of the file is not enough.
Please read more about translate here:
    Thanks.
  • Dear Pablo,

As I have stated before, this is a 1 language site, there is no WPML.

Would you please provide a bit more detailed answer?

    Thanks.

    Please use this Poedit software.
It will allow you to edit language files quicky and easy.
    Thanks.
  • Hello Pablo,

And which Poedit file shall I edit?

  • Okay, I have tried to translate with PO, it is not working. This string is hard coded in a php file, and it should be not!

    I have already:

    - Translated the string in the English PO file in the theme languages directory
    - Created a Hungarian PO file there
    - Tried to create a child-theme and translate the English there
    - Tried to create a child-theme and put Hungarian PO file there

The string CAN NOT BE EDITED WITH PO.

Please provide real support for this.

  • Hello,

I have written the message as requested.

I have given access to the staging site, not to the live site.

You can check the missing translation here:

Please look for the Muffin comment widget on the right side.

This is the text which should be translaged: Zsolt commented on

    Best,
    Andras
  • Hey,
we checked it and you did not translate your PO file, here is the path:
    wp-content/themes/betheme-child/languages/hu_HU.po

    It is all in english:

We will be integrating the wordpress language setting with the theme language from the next update so this will be no longer a problem.
    cheers
  • Hey,

    You didn't check it well.

I have translated the 1 string that we are talking about...

    #: /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/betheme/functions/widget-recent-comments.php:52
    msgid "commented on"
    msgstr "hozzászólt ehhez:"

    It is translated.

We are talking about 1 particular string now. Which is in my opinion hard coded in a .php file.

Why would I translate EVERYTHING right now?

    cheers

  • In next update (friday), we'll release an update, which will add this missing
strings to the Theme Options of BeTheme.

    Thanks.
