Betheme update to latest version caused all settings to change to a default (like font etc)

Hi there,

I updated my Betheme (it was out of date for 2+ years). However the the website now has lost all of the font settings and many of the design shortcodes/backgrounds are not there either or not appearing properly. The header sticky function is not working either.
The worst thing is when I try to update page content such as update the font in Betheme options or update a sortcode it is not updating the website even if the settings are saved successfully? So this means I cannot go and fix these errors as none of the Betheme settings are being saved.

PLEASE can I get some help urgently as my job depends on this being fixed ASAP! I just purchased support for this reason also.

Please can you advise what is wrong, I suspect some php/settings file needs resetting or some other element in the update of the theme locked some settings file and needs sorting manually.

Thankyou and kind regards
Kaz

  • Note: I updated the theme using EnvatoMarket plugin
  • Note 2: I have also sent a private message via http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup with the website URL and login details.

Note 3: I have also tested the website with plugins on/off and no difference, same errors.
  • Hi,
We do not recommend to update our theme/bundled plugins through some third-party plugins.
It could make some issues in your database and theme files, for now please go to your FTP, create a php file with phpinfo() function inside
and send us a link to that file privately thru the contact form which is
on the right side at http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact so
we can have a look on your server settings. Remember to also send your
license key and Wordpress admin login credentials. The problem is
probably related to limits but to be sure which one is the reason, we
need that link. For more details about file creation, please visit

    Notice!
    1. Attach your license key and the WordPress admin login credentials.
    2. Send a link to this discussion, so the email support knows where to look.

    Thanks
  • Hi there, thank you for the response.

I reverted the website to the pre-update state (it is running PHP 7.2 a WP 5.1).

So I can now attempt to update the Betheme again,

Can you please confirm the best update method and any tips please before I do this again?
  • Hi,

    1) I reverted the website to the pre-update state (it is running PHP 7.2 a WP 5.1) and then updated the theme using FTP - still getting all of the same errors (I tried turning off the header plugin on/off and also turned off all plugins but same errors).

    2) I have now sent a private message via themeforest-muffingroup with PHP INFO link, login and password details, license key and the link to the muffingroup forum discussion.

    THANK YOU
  • Please tell me, which version of BeTheme do you use?
    Greetings
  • Hi again,

    I updated to:

    BethemeVersion: 21.0.9

  • Hi Pablo, I have provided a summary so far of my steps and checks:

As my host is forcing an upgrade to PHP 7.2 (from 5.x) I made upgraded to PHP 7.2 and also WP 5.1 today.

This broke the website completely where only the menu could be see and nothing displayed.

I realised this was due to the old BeTheme I originally downloaded that did not support 7.x php (Download date of old Theme version is 13 Jul 2014), i may have downloaded again so I estimate the old Theme version was 3-4 years old.

After updating the theme to latest BethemeVersion: 21.0.9 using the FTP method got the website functioning again BUT I am now getting with the display of the interface, errors where many things are not displaying, header sticky menu not moving down, background colours like footer dissapeared, font reverting to some default font, many shortcodes not displaying etc.
I also cannot seem to update many of the Betheme settings even after saving them the website remains the same e.g. I cannot change the font.

I also updated the PHP Max Input Vars to 5000 (from 1000), this hasant fixed the above error.

I also tried turning off ALL addons and no changes to the above (ive permanently turned off the AutoOptimize cache addon for now also).

I have sent via private envato/themeforest message my WP url/login details, license, PhpInfo.

Please can you help fix this or suggest next steps as I have to fix this back to the normal looking ASAP, my boss is on my case!!!

    Thank you for your help

    Hey,
we checked it in your wordpress admin and it looks like you enabled the static CSS option in theme options>global>advanced
This option will work if you paste the generated css into the static css file first. Yours was blank, thus the website was not loading properly. We disabled it and now it loads fine. Please clear your browser cache, just to be sure.
    thanks
