Theme installed, but without a way to login to the wordpress management area

I've installed the theme and activated it. Trying to login today and it's displaying the (minimal postings) from my previous theme, but without anyway to login and administer the site. Will I have to deactivate then activate again?

I'm planning on doing the implementation and customisation in this domain, then migrating the site to my new URL Although I know I will need to deactivate the theme first, so maybe it would be better to deactivate the theme in the old domain and activate it in the new and start from scratch.
