Show Blog Filters Without Selecting ALL categories

edited May 2019 in BeBuilder
Hello.

We really love the blog filtering feature that the betheme comes with. However we find it limiting that the filters only show when ALL categories is selected within the blog item options.

Is there any css that can be added to show filters for when a specific category is selected? For example. Selecting a specific category and then using the TAG filter.

Let me know. Thank you!

  • Hello,
the main blog page will always show all of the posts by default. You can only exclude categories from the blog page by going to theme options>blog, portfolio&shop>blog
    thanks
  • Right but what I am asking for is to have the FILTERED feature show on blog items that are not using ALL categories:

    See here:

This filtered feature is only working because I have the categories set to ALL. When you select a specific category..the filter no longer shows....like here: https://falconscreativegroup.com/WP2/
  • We are trying to understand what exactly do you mean because there is no “all” category you can select. Also, you are not using the blog, but the portfolio. Can you please clarify? Also send us your wordpress dashboard access privately thru the contact form which is on the right side at
http://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact so we can see how you set up everything.

  • Hello. For blog filtering, I would like to exclude some tags on our news/blog page: (

    https://falconscreativegroup.com/WP2/news-blog/

Is that possible? We use posts for many of our pages and want to offer our users a filter option, but do not want ALL filters to show for (tags or categories)

    Please advise. Thank you!
  • Of course you can exclude some categories from main news/blog page.
It's in the Theme Options > Blog, Portfolio & Shop > Blog

Just provide the category slug to exclude some category/ies.
    Thanks
  • But what about doing this on the blog item? We do not want to set a blog page in theme options, we want to do this filtering with just the blog item.

However when we exclude categories..or do not select ALL...the filters do not show.

    Thank you
  • In the "Blog" item there is possibility to do that, but 'inversely'
It's called "Multiple Categories", you have to insert slugs of the categories and only these categories will be displayed.
    See screen:

    Thanks
  • Thank you!!
  • Actually. This does not as we intend. When we set the categorie slugs as you suggested..the filter does not show on the page...please advise.

    thank you.
  •  you can see what we are referencing here: https://falconscreativegroup.com/WP2/news-blog/

we have multiple categories set (news, blog)...and we have filters on for SHOW CATEGORIES...yet the filters do not show on page.

  • Yes, filtering does not work with "Multiple Categories" feature.
In "Blog" item filtering will be working only with "All" categories and "Masonry" style

It cannot be changed easily in the theme options.
To do that, you would have to edit a lot of theme and wordpress files, which unfortunately, we do not support.

If you still have some questions, feel free to ask.
    Thanks
  • Ok I have core design question then. Why do portfolio filters items and blog filters items function differently with mutiple categories??

When you set multiple categories for a portfolio items the filters still show. But not on blogs...This does not make sense to us.

Can you please submit this support ticket as a feature request?
  • Because portfolio item is made by us from scratch, it's a custom post type and we do not have any limitation there like we have on blog (because it's a basic wp functionality).

Sure, I'll provide this topic to the developer team.
    Thanks
