How do I show 3 blog items with navigation?  The navigation buttons only show when it's 5 items.

    Hi,
    It depends on width of the screen - it's calculated by the javascript and it display only that amount of blog items on the screen as much it will fit.
    To display the biggest amount of them, you have to set your "Grid Width" in Theme Options > Global > General to the maximal width.

    But I would want to keep the contents centered at 1240 width. Which file controls the amount of items that should be displayed? and at what line number?

    The "theme-shortcodes.php" and "theme-functions.php" should direct you to all necessary places.
    Unfortunately, we do not provide help with the theme files customization.
    So, if you don't know how to do it, you should contact your web developer.
