Can't update theme

I'm trying to update the Betheme. I followed the directions given here: https://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/documentation/#general

It says that the updated files should overwrite the old ones. However, whenever I try to upload the zip file it says that the destination folder already exists and the theme install fails.

Hello,

If you want to update your theme from really old version (below 20), you should do it through the ftp, not wordpress.

Please, try once more to do it, but this time using ftp.

But, if your theme is above 20, you can update the theme from the dashboard of your WordPress, in the
BeTheme tab. Just register the license, and you will be able to update
the theme, install newest plugins and import pre-built websites with
sliders. We are not including rev-sliders and plugin updates in the
theme package.

I'm trying to activate the Betheme but fail! and receiving this Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_theme_file_path() in /home/olmotonyi/public_html/wp-content/themes/betheme/functions.php on line 37

How can i resolve this.

TONNYWISE,

Are your BeTheme and WP up to date?

Is your PHP Version 7 or higher?

Also, did you try to activate the BeTheme with all of the plugins disabled?
