How should One page Custom ID links be configured for Translated sites/menu's

edited December 2019 in Menu / Mega menu

How should One page Custom ID links be used for Translated site/menu?
If using similar Custom ID link: 'contact' for example it links to English Contact section by default instead of Dutch.
I tried to use Custom Link: https://testcapture.com/nl/#contact and it works but if it's done this way all Custom ID One page buttons
are selected simultaneously? Please see https://testcapture.com/nl/
Please let me know how this should be configured correctly for translated menu's?
Thanks.

  • Hello,
As I remember, I applied the menu items with a language name on beginning, example:

    Menu link: '/nl/#contact'
First "/" says, that it has to comeback to the main directory, then to language (nl) and which tag.
Please test it and give me a reply with a result.
    Thanks

    Hi Pablo,
    Thanks for your response.
Yes the links are working fine when using /nl/#contact for example in the Custom menu link.
As I understand this is the correct way to Link to One page sections as well.

The only problem is that all buttons are selected in the menu automatically after one
button is selected that is linked to a different section on the same page using the Custom ID (One Page site).

For example when you browse to: https://testcapture.com/nl/
You notice that three buttons are selected automatically 'Home' 'Çontact' and 'Testimonials'.

When you browse between these three buttons you notice that all buttons stay selected
and the correct section is shown.
The only way to deselect the buttons is to select the 'Over' Button because this is a different page?

Thanks in advance for your response.

  • It could be caused because of the HTML errors you got on your NL page.

Please open your website in Firefox html mode (CTRL+U) and check html
errors you got. Please fix them first and all should be fine.

    Thanks!

    Hi Pablo,

    Thanks for your reply.

It doesn't look like HTML errors are the cause if this issue.
I Fixed all HTML errors I could fix, only a few left on both NL and EN
so it doesn't look like this is the cause of the issue in the NL menu.

Can you get this working in your environment without these buttons being selected automatically?

    Thanks!

  • I think the sollution would be to enable the one-page option on the "NL" page. You only have it enabled on the EN page in which it works fine.
    thanks
  • Thanks allot! Enabling the one-page option on the "NL" page solved the problem.
