Sorry, but this will be not possible.

That change would cover elements on page which is not acceptable on the websites.

Would it be possible that the link then would open if you click it, at the moment you have to hit small + to open the submenu

Sorry but this is also not possible.

Our users wouldnt like this because they could have lots of submenu items and the menu would be too long.
