Changed domain name but all css files are stored in old domain

Hi there, I’m working on a site for a client and I used a temporary domain to set it up. Now it’s switched to a permanent domain but all the css files and images (even new ones that I upload) still seem to use the old domain. I tried the muffin migrate tool but it didn’t change absolutely anything. Any advice?

  • Hello,
If you want to migrate from old url to new url, please use our plugin to do that:

    Thanks
  • Hi Pablo, I tried the plugin and it says "successful" after less than two seconds and nothing actually changes.
  • Can I re-install the theme directly on my new domain to fix this? Even when I upload a new image, Wordpress uses the correct domain, but when I view source, BeTheme/Muffin Builder keeps using the old domain.

How would I re-install and keep all my millions of edits and details.
  • Hello,
The Muffin migrate plugin will only work on the Muffin Builder and Theme Options. If you have custom files that you created or plugin files that show the old link, you would have to change them manually.
Maybe you should try moving it with a plugin called "duplicator", it changes all of the links on transfer.
    thanks
  • Hi Bryan, no these aren't custom files, these are the core Muffin and BeTheme CSS files for the entire site. When I view source, the layout.css, and all the other core files are pulling from my old domain and not my new one. The plugin did not change these file paths.
  • Even when I just uploaded a brand new image on my correct domain, in the media browser it displays the correct domain. When I use the builder tool to add it to my site, when I go to the live page it keeps using the old domain...
  • I don't know how I can use Duplicator since my Wordpress is already changed over to the new domain, its with GoDaddy and its not moving locations.
  • Can someone look into this via PM and access?
  • Can you send us a link to your website?
    Thanks
  • Just sent PM through themeforest profile
  • So, I'm waiting for them to arrive.
I'll respond you when they I will get them
    Thanks
  • Sadly, we are not able to change it to be proper because it's all stored in the database.
Are you not able to migrate it once more from first hosting/domain? (Using duplicator)
It would be the best solution.

    Thanks
  • Because its on GoDaddy Managed Wordpress the old domain and new domain are all on the same hosting, so Im not sure where I would move it since its on the same host. Could a re-write over the same site work?
  • Well, this issue can be hard because it's not a theme related issue at all, your migrating tool/plugin messed up the links completely.

But, please do what Bryan said, try to use the duplicator plugin on existing site to make a 'backup', then create a subdomain or remove all of the content from actual page and set up new wordpress and import that backup once more.

The duplicator plugin changes the url by itself, but I'm not sure if it gonna work while your urls have two domains inserted - but, try if it will help you.
Also, do not forget to deregister the license key before doing all of these steps.

    Thanks
