Can you switch theme to twentytwenty or other default theme and test if it works?

You will not lose anything while changing the theme - all of your progress is stored in the database and they are safe there - do not worry about it.

Please test if it it work with the twentytwenty theme - I tested it, followed all of the steps from the tutorial and it looks like it works fine.

The Revolution Slider works on twentytwenty, you have just provide the shortcode of the slider in the gutenberg editor.
