Customize the search results output

Hi

I have created a child theme and copied the search.php into this folder.

Is there anyway I can modify the template that is currently applied to the search results page?

The header and sub-header area is not displaying the way the rest of the pages do on my site.

Also, is there a way to add it to the "Template" dropdown on the right when adding/editing a page?

While modifying the Child Theme, please be familiar with this documentation:

It's really necessary to read it, it will help you avoid most common problems with creating the child theme.

About the template dropdown, what do you exactly mean, can you explain it greater?

Hi

Sorry I didn't explain the search results page issue very well.

On my website, I added a search widget to the sidebar.

When user enters search word(s) and hits the enter key, they are presented with

the search results page.

On the results page, I have no header, and see a grey hatched background.

How do I add my own specific header and remove this grey background

You will not be able to insert an image there, but you can get rid of that space in the Theme Options > Header & Subheader > Header and turn on the "Minimalist" option

About the background image, it's just a subheader image
