Extra spacing (padding) in media grid elements after 4.5 update

After updating VC to version 4.5 I've noticed some extra padding being applied to media grid elements which breaks the layout slightly and images appear mis-aligned (different horizontal and vertical spacing).

In both examples spacing should be 5px (it remains 5px vertically), but styling on .vc_col-sm-4 adds extra 15px padding-left and padding-right. Everything was ok prior to this update. Am I missing something?

the only padding we see is related with section it is added for section locally. We do not see any VC column on this page. Maybe you can make a screenshot with explanation of what you mean.

Spacing on media grid elements should be 5px on every side (as set in VC media grid settings).
It looks like VC is applying unnecessary padding to media grid elements. But why? Did anyone else stumbled upon similar behavior in 4.5?
4.5.1 fixed media grid problems.
