How to create more complex filter for a portfolio (products section)?

Hi.

I have a client that needs a more complex filter for their products section (this is more to display the products they produce I guess as a portfolio, rather than acting as an online shop)

As shown below is the line of products from my client.

I guess what I am asking is, how would you go about it, I am currently having a mental block.

I did look at https://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme-store/shop/ and it seems fairly comprehensive in that I can add a few different categories and such... (I assume this is woocommerce)

But how easy is it to turn off (hide) the cart, price, my account, etc? Since they don't need to have that aspect.

Worst case scenario, I could create a drop menu in the top navigation under 'products' - for each category/subcategory, but pretty sure the client would want a filter of sorts on the page rather than having to use the dropmenu all the time.

I remember in the past, trying to use the portfolio filter on another website I was working on, and if I sent users to a specific category page, the filter would then not work properly if I clicked a different category.

Hmmm but just checking now, it seems to work now (you must have fixed it), but seems the jQuery filtering animation thing doesn't. So maybe I could use something like that and use tags as well to add more filter options?

Hopefully, you can understand what I am trying to achieve, perhaps you have a better idea or a plugin suggestion.

Thanks

MJ

  • Hello,

Yes, the demo you mentioned uses WooCommerce, and I believe you should accomplish what you need with it.

In theme options, you can enable catalogue mode, which removes all add-to-cart buttons on the website, so the products play only a representative role. Pages like cart or checkout can be removed, or you get rid of them.

    Best regards
