8 Webpages Content Disappeared

Hi,

I created 9 new webpages today. I saved and published all of them. Then, I went back to review them one last time and 8 of the 9 webpages all of the HTML has been removed from the pages and they are showing an old version of the homepage, but contain no actual HTML.

I cleared my cache, run an update and they are still blank. The pages that were affected are 1) Custom Development, 2) Work Force Development, 3) Candidate Sourcing, 4) Employers, 5) Job Seekers, 6) Government, 7) Educational Institutions and 8) Veteran Service Organizations.

The website is https://colin10b7ca76bd.wpcomstaging.com. I've already created an admin username and password that was submitted with this ticket: https://forum.muffingroup.com/betheme/discussion/comment/237555#Comment_237555.

Wordpress is suppose to store upto 25 versions of webpages in history. Why are there no versions on any of the pages?

While the website is not live, this is an absolute nightmare scenario for our company. We are working on rebranding our site and have submitted for multiple federal contracts. If this were to happen to a live site of ours, it could end up costing our company millions. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY! So, that we can prevent this from happening again.

  • Hi,

Betheme does not remove anything by itself. I can see that you use some plugins we do not support. First, you should disable plugins we do not support and check if the issue persists.

Also, you can contact your server administrator regarding this if your server does not have some tool that removes files after some time or something similar.

  • Phil,

I literally signed up for WordPress and installed your theme. So, you're saying you don't support all Plug-In's that are native to WordPress? As an operations guy, I have to ask why this was not addressed in the onboarding process?

There are two plug-ins that I can't deactivate that aren't on that list: Jetpack & Akismet Anti-Spam: Spam Protection. I assume other users have had this same problem. What do I do?

  • Phil,

I've been chatting with WordPress an here's a few items:

    1) The Jetpack and Akismet Anti-Spam: Spam Protection are managed by them, but you really should have those listed under your supported plug-ins. It's very confusing for users.

    2) They have no idea why the pages aren't saving. There is no revision history on the pages to be ale to restore previous revisions per: https://wordpress.com/support/editors/page-post-revisions/.

    3) Can I schedule a call with someone to go through and figure it out?

  • Phil & BeTheme Community,

I think I figure out what the issue was. I was clicking the "Publish" button in the BeTheme Builder, assuming that would publish the page.

You have to also click the pink "Publish" button the WordPress page when you navigate back to WordPress. That seems to have solved the problem.

I'll check it again tomorrow to confirm.

  • 1) Some plugins like Classic Editor, Akismet, or Classic widgets work with all themes, so we did not find a point in putting them on a list. I was instead referring to other plugins.

    2) Good to see that you found a potential cause. So let's summarize. It is happening when you create a new page and go straight to BeBuilder without publishing it first in the WP editing panel, right?

    Best regards
