How may I update to have a custom 404 page?

you mean to set custom 404 page or what? Not really sure that you mean.
I mean, how may I create a custom 404 page instead of the traffic cone. I want to have complete control over a 404 page.
You can create custom page just like you're creating any other page and when it's done, in Theme Options -> Pages -> Error 404 you can assign that page for 404.
