Woocommerce Sidebar

Hi Guys,

I'm a little disappointed with the inbuilt sidebar for Woocommerce. It really lacks flexibility - are there plans to make this better and perhaps similar to the way Sidebar menus are built? that would be amazing if so and even better if I could create template versions that I can apply to different parts of my store to make the sidebars more relevant.

Im finding the current sidebar difficult to get what I need. And having the FILTER option to open it only possible in one place - many people are missing it and dont realise its there on desktop. At least on moible there is a tab - but still that is not flexible to make stand out.

Perhaps you could also consider adding a sidebar openening Icon to the Mobile menu that sits at the bottom of the screen with the Cart Icon?

  • UPDATE:

A big issue for me is it does not hide attributes that are not relevant to the products on show meaning it is easy to tick one which then says there are no results for products. An attribute not related to the products should hide when not relevant to prevent giving customers wrong results if they dont realise they have ticked it and it is not relevant.

    Hope that makes sense

  • Hello,

    1) No, at the moment, we do not have plans to implement that as Woo filters are widgets, and they would have to be recreated into BeBuilder elements. Anyway, if any widget changes its functionality, we would have to adjust the element as well every time a change appears. Also, there are tons of plugins for WooCommerce that add their own widgets to filter products, and it is not possible to create an appropriate element for every single one of them.

The current way of creating shop sidebars is the most convenient and easiest way to set that.

    2) We have it on our to-do list, but I cannot tell when it will be available. So, at the moment, to achieve that, you would have to create a shop template and sidebar with appropriate attributes for each category.

    Best regards
