I actually only want to show the icon-right-open-1 when hovering over a button. What is the best way to do that?

You can try the following CSS code:

 display: none;
}
.button:hover i{
 display: block;
}

The CF7 button cannot have an icon, so it is not possible to do that there, unfortunately.
