Very strange problem - pages randomly stalling

    When I completely remove all video’s from the media library and disable slider revolution and remove the sliders, the problem seems to disappear.

    At least that is what it looks like now, so in some bizarre way video’s are still loaded in PC with Chrome even when Slider Revolution is inactive (even when emptying browser history), I then need to remove the video’s completely from WP library as well.

  • Did you check if the same thing happens with completely different videos?

    Best regards

  • Yes, and even with completely non-related external video's from Youtube.

  • Did you try to reach out to Chrome support regarding this?

    Best regards

  • Not yet no, good idea though. Will consider that, first I will test some other things I came up with.

  • In the meanwhile we possibly found not the cause but a way to go around the issue, I am not 100% sure yet, people are testing it as we speak. Fingers crossed.

    Will keep you posted.

  • Our client has confirmed that the problem isn’t there anymore.

    But I have not found the cause, ONLY a way to get around the issue.

    Perhaps the following will give you an idea about where the issue originates from.

    I have changed the size (height) of a few videos that were in the sliders to normal height because they could also be used in the standard video height size, which is more common as a rule. I had for example a video of 1920 x 350 pixels, changed that (for YT into 1920 X 1080);

    I uploaded those videos on YouTube and the videos used in the sliders are now loaded externally from YouTube (so no longer from the web server where they used to be);

    I then also physically removed the videos (that are now on YouTube) from the WP media library, because they still appeared to be loading from there by Chrome/Chromium browsers and therefore caused problems, completely inexplicable but it was what happened every time.

    Even after clearing Chrome's history cache several times and on several computers.

    Only after this all the issue disappeared.

     It cannot be 100% ruled out that there is/was something wrong with one or more videos with Chromium browsers, or that in combination with the Slider Revolution functionality and/or something within Betheme. But it seems certain that videos played a role in some way.

    So I have found a way around the problem, but the cause and respective solution itself are not given.

    I will not investigate this much further because this has cost us literally multiple days in research hours and we have found some sort of 'solution'.

  • We will take a second look at this and let you know if we find anything.

    Anyway, I believe we checked everything on Betheme's side that could have caused it and found nothing, so I cannot assure you that this time will be different.

    The harder to investigate this is that we are not able to replicate such issue on any of our environments with any configuration, and no one reported anything similar to this.

    However, as I mentioned, if we find anything, I will let you know.

    Best regards

  • Thanks again for all support so far!

    Yes, it is a crazy and unique issue it seems.
