Single Post Templates Question

I fear my question has an obvious answer, just some hidden corner of the (WP) interface I haven’t been able to cipher. Anyway, my question is about SINGLE POST templates.

I’m building a site in Betheme. I’ve imported the DEFAULT site as a starting point, that site came with I believe (8) ‘posts’ such as STANDARD post, POST with Right Sidebar, Post with Left Sidebar, etc.

However, opening any of these (8) imported posts in the WP editor shows ALL of them using the DEFAULT TEMPLATE, yet they all have different page layouts… that said, if I create a NEW post and publish it, it always renders in the page layout of the STANDARD post… so my question;

What if I want all new posts to render when published in the format of POST with RIGHT SIDEBAR? How do I make THAT format, the format of ALL newly posted content?

Any Insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    Please go to Betheme -> Theme options -> Sidebars, scroll to the Single posts section, choose the sidebar position, and assign which Sidebar you want to show there:

  • Thanks.

    I actually found this setting to force the right sidebar after posting this question yesterday, so I've been able to achieve that... my bigger question though relates to the "Default Template" for Single Blog & Single Portfolio posts. Which is;

    How do you adjust or customize the individual elements of these "Default Templates"?

    For example, the Single Blog Post Template...

    Let's say I want to adjust the padding on the content area... or customize the look and feel of the Authors Block or the Comment Area... or get rid of the Social Share element that is currently sitting to the left of the featured image (in my install)... such that every new post I author and publish inherits all these stylistic changes?

  • If you do not have a single post template made through the templates tab, most settings come from Betheme -> Theme options -> Blog & Portfolio -> Blog/Portfolio.

    Some stuff, such as Style, can be set directly in the Post Options.

    The padding of the content can be set as for a regular page when you edit it with BeBuilder. The Author Block and the Comment area are pre-defined, and to adjust them, you must use a custom post template (I mentioned it at the beginning of this message).

    We do not have a video tutorial about post template creation but it is similar to single product template:

    https://support.muffingroup.com/video-tutorials/how-to-customize-woocommerce-single-product-layout/

    Share box can be hidden through Betheme -> Theme options -> Global -> Navigation & Share.

    Regarding the question you asked about in a new topic (post paragraphs edition), please attach a link to one of the posts you refer to.

    Thanks Phil.

    Didn't mean to create 'duplicate topics'. The way I saw it, I was keeping each question in its own thread.

    That said, here's the question again from that separate thread that you haven't yet answered;

    //

    On the topic of blog POSTS... I'm able to open already written/published posts in BeBuilder. But it only allows me to add elements at the top. In other words, the BeBuilder doesn't recognize the paragraphs of the post as existing sections, wraps or elements... for example; I have a post that's (4) paragraphs, in-between the 2nd and 3rd paragraph I'd like to insert a YouTube Embed. BeBuilder won't let me do it. Is there something I'm missing? This feels like a typical thing one would want to do."

    //

    Regarding the 'Social Share'. What I end up liking is setting style to 'simple' which moves it to the end of the post. Much nicer. But how do I change WHICH socials I want included here?

    I'll check out the 'single product layout' video here and see if that helps me... it's feeling like my answer here is to create a new template with my preferred 'single post' look and feel. If I'm understanding correctly, creating this template will allow me more customization options for elements like the author box, comments section, etc. Not sure how? But we'll get to that later. First things first.

  • Indeed, it is better to have a separate topic regarding different questions, but most of the questions were the same in these two topics.

    1) I answered your question in my previous message:

    Regarding the question you asked about in a new topic (post paragraphs edition), please attach a link to one of the posts you refer to.

    2) The Share box is not editable for adding new socials. Note that it is for sharing, and not all social media have a sharing feature, e.g., you cannot share posts on YouTube. If you would like to remove some, it can be done with a custom CSS code, and I can help you write it, but I will need a link to your website.

  • Thanks Phil.

    Let me start over, ask the question with a screenshot.

    In the attached screenshot, I've opened a POST in BeBuilder. It allow me to insert sections between the featured image and the start of the content... but that's it. It doesn't allow me to edit the existing content. What I'm asking... is that normal behavior?

    Say I want to insert BeBuilder elements such as a CHART or a BANNER BOX inline, within the content of the post... is this possible in Be Builder? Or only in the Wordpress block editor?

    Thx.

  • If this post has content placed in the WP editor, it will not be editable with BeBuilder. These are two different builders with different construction.

    So, if you want to use BeBuilder for all the content in your post, you must erase what you have in WP Editor.

    You mentioned that you imported the Default pre-built website. A post named "Post with BeBuilder" was made entirely with BeBuilder. You may notice that no content is placed in WP Editor, only with BeBuilder.

  • Thanks Phil.

    I continue to explore and dig.

    Gotta say, been using BeBuilder now long enough to know that your crew has built something pretty incredible here.

  • You are welcome, and thanks for appreciating our work.

    We keep working to improve our theme and builder to make it better and better.
