simple image gallery/carousel with one image per time

hi,

i would insert in my website a simple image gallery/carousel with one image per time, with also autoplay, but i can't understand how can i do it, it's a feature avalaible in quite every theme, but here i can't undertstand how to do it. In specif, i want to insert the image gallery/carousel in place of the single image

i have a lot of photos, have i to create a slide for every single photos? and also i need a square format. there is a fast way? or an external plug in for do that? for example with elementor is wayyy more fast.

another thing, i putted my photos on portfolio page preview and the photo is horizontal, not square how they were on the demo. Why? i need square format
