Problems with Padding in Betheme 28.0.x

I have a site built in BeTheme 27 using BeBuilder. When I updated to BeTheme 28 (I'm up to 28.0.4) the padding and/or margins seem to have disappeared from wraps and sections. What's very odd is that even when I edit the wrap or section - it appears correct in the builder. But when I save it the settings disappear and the preview does not show the same padding.

I disabled all plugins and used the main BeTheme (instead of my child theme). I also used a browser with a cleared cache. Nothing seems to make a difference. (I needed to turn them back on so I had the required functionality.)

I do have a staging site that's still using BeTheme 27 - so I have attached two images that show how different the page looks. If it would help to see the staging site, I can provide a link - but it's password protected.

The page is: https://dreamforgemagazine.com/for-readers/

The top image shows V28 where the padding is missing from the grey section and margins between the white boxes.

Here's a picture of the editor. You can see that I've added the padding to the section and you can see the padding in the editor. Yet when I go to preview the page, there is no padding.

The frustration is that I am struggling to even be able to save the settings. Ideally, I wouldn't have to go page by page, section by section to fix this. The home page has a similar setup (a gray section with two white boxes). I was able to fiddle around with it using only margins (that seem to save better than padding will). I don't want to spend hours going through the site trying to get the look I want by only using margins.

Thank you for your help.

  • I should have also mentioned.I've had this same issue on some other sites as well. It seems like the only sites I have that are having issues are sites built relatively recently (in later versions of 27). I updated sites built in 25 and 26 and did not see similar issues.

  • Any word on this?

  • As I said, we are checking this, so we have not found root cause yet.

As soon as we find the culprit, I will let you know.

  • Sorry, it took a little longer, but it was pretty complicated and time-consuming.

Anyway, we have corrected it on your website. Please check it out.

  • That worked and thinks look like they did before updating to V28. Thank you very much for your help in this.

One page (https://dreamforgemagazine.com/for-readers/the-dreamforge-channel/) still had a white border at the top where the section (light grey) should have been touching the header. The only way I could fix that was a negative margin on the box and then add my padding.

Can you provide any kind of explanation? I've held off on updating other sites because I had this kind of spacing issue on several sites once they were updated to 28. (But other older sites designed in V26 seem to update with out problems.)

So ideally, any info you have any explanation on why this happened would be useful. And what you did to fix the issues - so I know what to do on the next site that has spacing/margin/padding issues.

    Thanks,

    Jane

  • Which section exactly has this "white border"?

Regarding the root cause of this issue, there was some specific route of updates when updating from one version to another and then to the V28, but to be completely sure I must consult that with the dev team.

  • As far as the white border, maybe that was a cache issue. https://dreamforgemagazine.com/for-readers/the-dreamforge-channel/ looks OK now.

I'd be interested in knowing more about the update path.

What I found was the sites we had the most problems with are sites that were built recently. DreamForge was entirely rebuilt in a version of V27 from Jan to March. And updating it caused a lot of issues. Another site was just launched around this spring - probably in February and it had a lot of spacing issues too. But most of the updates had gone pretty well.

  • The dev team told me that it is hard to determine which update exactly could be the culprit, as we recently released many of them.

So, unfortunately, I cannot tell you what exactly was the root cause, and you are the only one with such specific issue who reported it. There were others with something similar, but fixes in newer updates helped unlike for your case.
