embedding Youtube shorts
Dear Support,
I’m writing to report an issue regarding how YouTube Shorts videos are displayed in the latest version of BeTheme.
Until recently, embedding YouTube Shorts (videos in 9:16 format, typically from youtube.com/shorts/...) worked correctly — they appeared in a vertically-oriented container that respected their aspect ratio.
However, after the recent update, Shorts videos are now displayed inside a standard 16:9 horizontal container, which results in bad experience.
The issue occurs on both desktop and mobile, making Shorts appear incorrectly formatted even on smartphones, where vertical videos are expected to fill the width properly.
We also noticed that the newly introduced width and height fields in the BeBuilder Video element do not affect the actual container size or aspect ratio when embedding Shorts videos on mobile.
- Is this change intentional?
- Is there a recommended way to properly embed Shorts videos (9:16) in the current version?
- If not, could you advise on a workaround, or let us know if this will be addressed in a future patch?
Thank you for your continued support. Looking forward to your response.

Hi,
No, this change is not intentional. I have passed it on to the dev team, and we will take a closer look at this.
For now, please use the following CSS code as a temporary workaround:
Put it in Betheme -> Theme options -> Custom CSS & JS -> CSS.
Best regards
Thank you Phill!
