Missing .maintenance file causing website to crash when in maintenance

Hi there, our website was moved from 1 server to a new VM server, but since this, when the website now goes into maintenance the website crashes (file not found 500 server error).

It says it can't find the .maintenance file on the server even though we put in a new file named .maintenance.

but it is now creating a false positive with the permanent .maintenance

Please assist.

We are unable to resolve this issue permanently what do you suggest as it is a betheme issue.

    I want to get this right.

    When you try to enable maintenance, your website crashes. Am I right?

    Can you tell me how you moved your website? Did you use any plugin for that?

    Hi there, my dev says he tried to use all in one migration plugin but it failed, there were a bunch of error messages that came through and it was not possible to use. (But does not have those error messages saved anywhere.)

    He used another plugin to migrate but he is not sure which he used as it was a few months ago. Would it not be easier to give you login access to look around to see what's going on?

    Would it not be quicker to just upload the betheme again to overwrite the theme files currently there? Or will that cause an issue with the website (we don't want any downtime).

    Hi there, the dev used https://xneelo.co.za/help-centre/website/migrate-your-wordpress-website-using-duplicator/ to migrate the website... if that helps?

    We need to resolve this quite fast as the website keeps crashing each update it makes and we need to keep our clients happy.

    Please use the Duplicator plugin:

    We constantly use it, and we have never had problems with it.

    Hi there, this does not resolve our issue that the website is unable to update any theme or plugin due to the .maintenance file... please would you urgently assist us it is specifically a theme issue and I am hoping you can help us.

    The client is losing work that they are doing on the website and we are unable to update any plugins including betheme without website crashing.

    We did use duplicator and the website is not functioning as it should. It is only on this website that we have this issue www.afm-ags.org

    Please do a test and switch to another theme like Twenty Twenty-Five, and check if the same thing happens then.

    If the problem persists, it means that the problem is not related to Betheme and we will not be able to help.

    If the issue is gone with another theme, please send us the WordPress dashboard and FTP access privately through the contact form, which is on the right side at https://themeforest.net/user/muffingroup#contact, and we will check what might be the reason.
