However if you want to make these images smaller, then please change their sizes under functions/theme-functions.php file where add_image_size() function responsible for portfolio item is and after that please use Force Regenerate Thumbnail plugin.
You want us to fix what you did? Sorry but we do not offer those kind of support. This code does not come with our theme and because you did it, you know where this code is and you must remove it.

Sorry but we can't agree with you. You did it. Or if you didn't then someone who got an access to your site did it. Or maybe your FTP is corrupted and someone can modify your files because we do not have other explanation for this. This part of code is not sure included into theme because we checked this and we are sure on 10000000% about this. And please do not be rude because we try to explain you that this code does not come with theme. It's not our false that someone is doing changes on your site. We can't be responsible for your site, FTP or access. Hope you understand it!
