BeTheme Accessability
Will BeTheme be offering options to make the theme more accessible to users? We have recently had someone run a report on our site and highlighted some of the issues below:
Missing focus highlighting - Many elements that can receive keyboard focus (links, buttons, and form fields) aren’t highlighted when in focus. For people who use only a keyboard, pressing the tab key moves focus to a focusable element. When an element has focus there should be a visual cue to let the user know where they are.
Image links missing alt text - There are a number of image links that do not have alternative text (ALT attribute). People who use a screen reader rely on alt text to understand images. For images that are links, the alt text can also describe the purpose of the link. Because this linked image do not have alt text, screen reader users will not know what the image is or where the link goes. Often, when there is no alt text, screen reading software will use the image filename in it’s place, which can be even more confusing. These images seemed to be those of the social media links in the footer and top bar.
I also wondered if there were any other options you might be looking to implement in terms of accessibility too?
Thanks
Tom
Comments
1) At this moment, we do not have such plans.
2) We got it in plans. Will be great if you can list an items where you got missing alt text because recently we added alt text for some items and would like to know which items does not have these tags in your mind.
We constantly add more and more features but the list of them is really long and we can't tell you which can be added in near future.
Thanks!
