Reset to Defaults button

This button just cost me two days of work.

Okay, so I need to get used to the tab button doing nothing worthwhile in Wordpress.  But for those of us who are used to typing out stylesheets in a normal text editor, we use tab all the time.  Here's the problem:

When you are entering Custom CSS (in Muffin Options) you will wipe out your entire settings by hitting 'tab' 'space' 'space'  (which is super common when typing out css).

I'm new to Betheme and the first time this happened I had no clue why my settings were gone.  This time I was watching closely enough to see the warning screen flash for a second.

Yeah, I'm aware of the Export option to save settings.  But you guys should really move that button.  Bury it somewhere safe where it wont waste hours of work, please!

    Hi,

this button can not be removed because people are using it sometimes. We do not understand where the problem exactly is. Before you will reset options, there is a big popup window where is information which explain that all your settings will be re-stored to default. So we do not understand where the problem is. In our opinion, it is necessary to read carefully all popup windows like this one.

    Thanks for understanding!
  • 'tab' 'spacebar' 'spacebar' will blow right through that popup warning without giving you a chance to read it.

Give it a try.  Pretend you're typing out some css into the Custom CSS text box., and you want to indent the next line with a tab and two spaces (just like you might do in a regular text editor).  All settings gone! Poof!

Obviously, I need to be careful when using 'tab' in wordpress, but perhaps the default button on that popup should be to not wipe out your settings.
  • Can you make a screenshot of how this popup looks like on your side? We did tested it on different screen sizes and http://pasteboard.co/2Cqy3Ym9.png this is how it looks like.
  • Ok. But for us it looks good. So what would you change in this message? Please show us on screenshot how exactly you would change this info.
  • I wouldn't change the message (although you can see that the Firefox alert has the Okay/Cancel buttons switched).

I'd change the placement of the Reset to Defaults button; so that it's not immediately after the css text editor.

    Or maybe give it: tabIndex="-1"

    Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about: http://pasteboard.co/2DJmKfJ1.png

I don't care if you change it, btw.  I'll never make that mistake again.  And maybe I'm the only one using Firefox who is in the habit of hitting 'tab-space-space' while typing css, though.  But I doubt it.
  • Ok, we get it now. To be honest we did never met with a person who did it the same so we didn't know that this could be the problem. Anyway, we'll see while future updates if there is anything what we can do to eliminate this situation.

I have the similar problem. I saw that button at the middle  of the page for setting menu colors - (Betheme Setting page). I just wanted to reset the default color for the menus and I saw that  crazy "Restore  to Default". why did you put it there without any warning message or popup window. That completely destroyed all my work. It is really hard to redo all those works.
  • @javad746 Button has been moved to different section quite long time ago and it also has a warning message what means that you are wrong.
