Links on Portfolio Items do not work on Mobile

edited September 2015 in Theme support
Hello,

Enjoying working with your theme , but I have an issue. I have created a test home page using the portfolio shortcode set to the "Masonry Hover Description" style. I added some custom CSS to change the colors a bit. It looks and works great on the desktop, but on a mobile device the hover state doesn't appear after tapping on the image and so you can't link to the page. Here's the test page with the problem: http://sitedev3.jpcreative.net

You'll need to view it on a mobile device to see the issue. As a side note, I looked at the "Showcase" Layout for the Be Theme, which has the same Masonry Hover Description style and it works fine on my mobile device. Any ideas? Let me know if you need my Login info. If you do, How would I give that to you privately?

Thanks,
Jackson

    Hello,

Did you check the site on a mobile phone? On a computer, it works great, but on my iPhone, when I tap the image, I don't see the hover state with the blue background, title, and link icons and so I can't get to the linked page. If you checked it on your phone and it works well, can you tell me if it was an iPhone or an Android?

NOTE: Even though you can't see the title and the icon links, they are there. So it is possible to accidently touch them. My issue is that the hover state doesn't show on tap and makes it impossible for the user to know where to click. Make sense? How do I fix it so when I tap on the image on my iPhone, the hover state shows just like it does on a computer when a mouse activates the hover state?

    Thanks!
  • Yes, we tested on both: iPhone and Android. On both works fine.
  • I'm so confused. Any idea why it isn't working on mine? Should I add some Javascript that converts the hover on click to make sure it works on all phones? If I add it to the child theme, would it remain after an update to the main theme?
  • Sorry but we have no idea why it does not work on your side. What you can do is turn off "Hover effects" on mobile devices under Theme options > Responsive section. But please notice, that these items won't work the same on mobile as on desktop because mobile devices always got a problems with css hover effects. Only one click will work.
  • I have the same problem with the following Website: http://www.kunstgeschwister-booking.de Could you please have a look? It works on Android but not on Ios. Even when I'm deactivating the "Hover Effects", there are no changes... Is it maybe possible to use the Masonry Hover Description for everything like Laptop / PC etc. and when you lookup the site with a mobile phone it would switch to another style like the flat one? Thanks for your help in advance!
  • @FusselEins Please send us private message with dashboard and FTP access so we can have a look on it because we activated this item already on our demo and hover effect and link works fine.
