I would like to have the background color for individual blog posts be white, however, it appears to be transparent. You can see it at http://stripperadvice.com/advice/personal-safety/.

Can you explain how I can do this, please.

But as we can see, it's not a post page. It's just a regular page. So if you will give you css for the background color, it would be changed on every regular page.

I meant the box that the text of each post appears in. I believe the div class is "post item." I would like that to be white, but the page background to remain grey.

Still not sure if we talk about the same but you can use the following css:

.post-item { background: #000 !important; }

Yes, you can change it's color with extra css as well:

.post-item, .post-item a, .post-item span, .post-item i { color: #000 !important; }
