How to fix blurry images?

I'm using the Handmade theme with Gallery pages. Originally uploaded gallery images as .pngs but saw that on my desktop they are blurry (they are fine on mobile). Tried changing the settings for media, that didn't help. Installed the imagemagick plugin, changed to .jpgs, regenerated thumbnails - still blurry, in fact not even the slightest change (verified that imagemagick program is installed on server). Installed another plugin ForceJpegQuality which improved the blurriness quite a bit but not enough. I'm wondering if there something in the functions.php or another file that can be changed to fix this issue or do you have another workaround. This is BIG issue and if I can't fix it I'm not going to be able to use WP or BeTheme at all :(
