1) Yes, if you want to put links, you need to use a tag, like: 2) To remove slider, you need to uncheck it under Page Options section where Slider Revolution drop-down field is.

2) Looks like you mean header's section, not the slider. So if that's what you mean, please activate Minimalist header under Theme options > Header & Subheader > Header section.
