Content Link - How do I get the content link to activate a PDF download?

Hi. Sorry if this is an obvious question. How do I get the content link to activate a PDF download?

This is the short code [content_link title="Download the results" icon="icon-download" link="" target="_blank" class="" download=""]

I've tried all sorts of variations of stuff between the "" on the link and download bits of the shortcode but nothing works. Here is a typical wordpress media file link. I need to know what goes where.

Well no help on here, but just in case anyone else is trying to do it, I figured it out by copying the HTML when inspecting the page and tweaking it.

This works
