Preventing Update Overwrites

We already edited the options of your theme and made a lot of progress on your theme. We thank you for that.

We now realized that we may need to edit the theme files, customizing them accordingly, and in order to prevent update overwrites, we are forced to resort to creating a child theme (unless you can help us with an alternative). Is there a way we can create a child theme without losing all of our current settings? Also, if we were to create a child theme, is there a way that our custom php settings file can always be included into your functions.php or its equivalent seamlessly uninterrupted regardless of updates?

Another thing we wanted to ask is if your theme has the ability to disable WordPress's built-in JPEG compression.

Finally, we wanted to thank you for such a great product. Appreciate your hard work and effort.

  • Hi,
Just use the child theme, it is the best practice if you want to change files directly. Then update only the main theme and nothing will be overwritten in the child.
We do not know of any way of disabling the image compression but the function is called add_image_size(), read more here but it only changes the size and crops the image.
    thanks
  • Thank you so much for the quick response. That helps alot!!
