Prevent duplicate blog posts on one page

I am having difficulty figuring out how to prevent blog posts from showing twice or more on a single page. I'm trying to create a home page that has several blog content objects, one for Latest Posts, and then some for different categories. The problem is that the items in Latest Posts are also in some of those categories, and show up twice. 

Is there a way to prevent duplicates from showing up?

    Sorry but you cannot, it is not supposed to work this way. If you want your blog to work how it is supposed to you have to go to  Settings -> Reading and set the main blog page, this is important. There is an option there: posts page and there you must set the page that will be your blog page (there can be only one blog page per website).
    After you do that, you cannot edit the main blog page and add item or shortcodes. The blog page should be untouched.

    Many of your competitors have code in their theme to prevent duplicate posts from showing on a single page. If you don't have this, I will not likely use BeTheme for me or any of my clients.  It's a pretty simple way of ensuring you're not showing the same thing over and over again.  A shame.

    And your response about setting a static home page for the blog is not relevant. I'm asking whether multiple components on a single page, regardless of whether it's the blog home page, can be aware of the rest of the page items and not display duplicates.  I'm well aware of how to set a static home page for blog related posts.
