Moving site from localhost

Hi!

I have just bought a Betheme and can't wait to start working with it.
I am changing our web site now and starting to use your theme Betheme on the site. Because we already have an excisting website I don't want to do all the changes live. So my options it to do it on a localhost or a sub domain. What I'm wondering now is, if I install my Betheme on my localhost or on a subdomain, after moving the website to the livesite, will I be able to use all the funcions on the Betheme on my livesite? Like doing changes then on the livesite instead of the localhost/subdomain. Will I have access to Betheme on the new page even though it was installed on another page/lovalhost first?
It's a theme with only 1 licence, is one licence meaning only on my localhost and then I need to buy a new licence for the livesite to be able to work with the theme on the live site?

I'm wondering if you recommend to use a subdomain or a localhost if I want to start working with your theme and do all the changes. Is this any difference regarding the licence?

What plugins do you recommend for the site migration? I have read here about different options; WP Migrate DB, Mfn CB Migration Tool and Duplicator.

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards
Anna

  • Hi Anna,
You can create a website on your localhost and then move it to a domain without buying another license. To move the site from your localhost to a server use the duplicator plugin LINK
The mfn-migrate-cd plugin is used only to change media file paths, I doubt you will need it if you use the duplikator plugin.
    thanks
  • Thank you for your quick reply. So I can still use the theme on my livesite site and do changes on the livesite even after the migration? The license for my theme will still be active on my livesite even though I activated the licence on my localhost?
  • You can hava one license per domain, so when you move the site to your server from localhost you should remove the site from localhost. This same would apply if you would create the website on a test server and move it to your primary server. You do not need to activate any license.
