Extra white space below sidebar

Hi,
When I add the sidebar to my page, it creates a large amount of white space between my blog entries and the footer. I confirmed it was the sidebar, as when the sidebar is removed, the footer comes right up to the bottom of the blog entries. When I turn it back on, there is suddenly a large amount of white space between the blog entries and the footer. I have checked my widget, and the sidebar does not have any extraneous blank items in it. It contains 6 text boxes with text and an image in each. 
You can't even see the sidebar contents in a screenshot, because they end before the bottom of the blog entries. 
How can I remove this space?
