This is the subheader, you can disable it globally in theme options>header&subheader>subheader or locally for each page in page options. Just edit the page.

Do not touch the child theme, only update the parent theme. Just go to your FTP and remove the theme from the themes folder. Then add a new version thru FTP or thru the wordpress themes panel.
