Please first try to disable other plugins, they may cause this. On mailchimp you generate shortcodes, you can paste them in the content or the muffin builer.

So you could in theory try to insert a blog item,http://themes.muffingroup.com/be/theme/shortcodes/loops/#blog-item Then edit it and in the option set the number of rows to 1 and the number of total posts to 1.Try it.
