Removal of Items which automatically appear on the page

I have searched and cannot find the answer. 

I am using the Simple template, I want to remove the search, comments, archives, categories and meta section which appear on the bottom of every page? Also can I decide which social icons show at the bottom of page? Looking forward to your response. Can you tell me where, exactly, I need to insert the custom CSS? Kind regards
