Websitetransfer - BeTheme Options not taken along

edited January 2016 in Theme support
Hi,

I transferred a Wordpress / BeTheme website to another server by copying the files and importing a database dump into the new database.

In my opinion the BeTheme Options should have been taken along with this procedure - but, unfortunately, they were empty.

I had to export and import the BeTheme Options.

This is the first issue - please comment on this.

And then you additionally have to change the absolute paths in the BeTheme options (like logo, favicon, ...) - because they are saved into the database in a cryptical way (it doesn´t help to search & replace the sql dump).

Would you please comment on this also.

And then it seems like you additionally have to adapt all paths in the pages and
posts created with muffin builder (page options) ... hopefully i am
wrong.

Would you please comment on this also.

General question: What is the recommended procedure for website transfers - in case someone uses BeTheme?

Best regards and thank you in advance.
Markus

  • Hi Markus,

when we copy database, BeTheme options always copy with that database so it's weird that in your case was different. We've been moving sites with our theme 100's of times and options were always copied. This means that you must did something wrong if options hasn't been copied. For such transfers we always use https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/

In reference to your 2nd question, you should use Mfn CB Migrate Tool to change paths inside Muffin Builder.

    Thanks!
  • Thank you for your fast and competent reply - as we are used to in this forum ... ;)

You may be right - i don´t know, what the problem was before, but i did it again now and it worked well ... for the first and the third question.

But i suppose it has something to do with the dns settings of the domain ... i changed them before but at some point noticed that on my computer the domain still pointed to the old ip addy.

For the second question, thank you for the hint.

    CU, Markus
  • On that kind of issues we have no influence. These should be sorted on server side.

We are glad to hear that we could be helpful :)
