Blurry images - size?

I am having some problems finding the correct image size for the header (rev. slider).
I would like for the height to be 300 px and the width to be full. However, I cannot manage to figure out which size to make the image. Whatever I try, the image turns out blurry,

Slide layout:  Full-Width
Layer Grid Size: 1490 px x 300 px

I have tried making the image in a very high resolution, and a very low resolution - but ether way; it turns out blurry.
Which size should the image be? And in which resolution? I´m really stuck here, and I think I´ve started to confuse myself by now :/
I have the same problem when I try to use one of the images in the package, which to me, makes no sense.
