Blog next/previous navigation arrows by category

I noticed in the theme there are the arrows that allow you to scroll to previous and next posts, cool fuction! However, I would like to make the posts it scrolls to be within the same category.
For example- my press page shows posts from category 'press' -- however when you click on one of the posts from that page and view the post and then use the arrows on the post to navigate - it navigates to the next published post, which is not necessarily in that category (no longer 'press').
Is there a way to modify this to operate within a category? If so, where would I find the that function (I assume in one of the php files)...

you can set it up under Theme options > Blog, Portfolio & Shop > General section.
