Google Ad Conversion and Tracking

Hi all, my client wants to add a Google conversion tag so we can track the clicks of the phone numbers contained in header-top-area.php. The first step says we have to add the code between the <body> tags of the page with the links, but header-top-area.php doesn't have header or body tags.

In some of your previous responses to similar questions, it sounds like BeTheme isn't set up to accept these code snippets easily. But tracking is pretty much common place for SEO and marketing. Is there a workaround? If not, does BeTheme plan to include features in the future to make this more do-able for users?

Thx!

  • Hi,

body tag is located under header.php file. If you will paste this code properly, it would work and saying that theme does not accept these types of codes is not true.

I wasn't trying to state "lie" about your theme. It's just that based one where I'm being told the code needs to go (in the same file with the header phone numbers which is header-top-area.php), there are no head or body tags.

header.php doesn't contain those links and if that's the case, we couldn't see how the code could link to the phone numbers since those are in a different file.

Also, this was a response in the forum to someone wanting to add a Facebook pixel: "Facebook Pixel: Hi, you must play with theme files because there is no other way to include tracking codes. Not sure where you should paste this code but if code should be pasted before closing </header> tag, then you should play withincludes/header-top-area.php file"

That's why I was confused as to whether or not this could be easily done or required substantial customization.
  • There is 2 files responsible for header: header.php and includes/header-top-area.php file but like we wrote above, body tag is under header.php file. We did checked it twice. And like you wrote above, this change requires file's customization.
