Overlay effect on images

Hi, I'm trying without success to add an overlay effect to an image, so that the text stand out.

What kind of overlay you want to add? Did you saw similar effect on our site? Please show us on screenshots and examples of what you mean exactly.

http://themes.muffingroup.com/be/holding/ it seems you have an overlay effect (but I guess you are using LayerSlider or Slider Revolution).

Here's another example http://zerodepressao.com.br/comecar/. The big image has an overlay effect of 40% with a green color.

I'd like to achieve any overlay effect so that the text can stand out better from the image. But in my case, I'd like to obtain the effect with a parallax image.

If you mean 1st section where blue background and "INNOVATIVE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW" text is, we did it with Revolution Slider.
